Dynamics and trajectories of the coastal abandoned agricultural lands

Abandoned agricultural lands (« friches ») are perceived in an ambivalent way by natural areas managers. In these spaces, the extension of thickets, stemming from the decrease of the anthropic pressure, is considered either as a degradation from a landscape and ecological point of view, or as a return of a spontaneous ecological succession. This talk will expose the first results of an ongoing thesis in ecological history, in the framework of the interdisciplinary project ANFRICHE. Focused on the coastal part of the commune of Moëlan-sur-Mer, this first part of the study aimed at describing the trajectories of this socio-ecological system since the 1950s, by analysing both taxonomic composition and landscape dynamics.
