PFAS pollution: Know It, Measure It, Fight It
We are pleased to announce the conference of Khalil Hanna, Professor at the ENSCR and researcher in the Solid State Chemistry and Materials (CSM) team of the Rennes Institute of Chemical Sciences (ISCR), on Thuesday, April 7, 2026. The conference will take place at 8:30 pm in the Auditorium Hubert Curien, Les Champs Libres, Rennes.
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) represent a major environmental and societal challenge today.
Used on a large scale since the 1940s due to their exceptional chemical stability, these synthetic substances are now ubiquitous in our environment.
However, the very stability that makes them so valuable prevents their natural degradation, leading to persistent and widespread contamination on a global scale. PFAS permeate all environmental compartments and travel long distances. This dispersion contributes to the contamination of the food chain, directly affecting humans and compromising the quality of natural environments.
How can we develop solutions adapted to this complex challenge, which affects the entire planet and future generations?
